Well, since we started creating this new website things have changed quite considerably!

As you will see from this website it has not been an easy, or quick, ride to get to having a Community Centre being built in Bracklesham. Following issues with the use and ownership of the land the project is being run in conjunction with Chichester District Council and the East Wittering & Bracklesham Parish Council.
The aim is still to provide a Community Centre that will be available to all members of the local community. This work is being carried out though a tri-party group which comprises of nine members taken equally from the Bracklesham Bay Community Association, the District Council and the Parish Council.
Not exactly what was originally planned by the BBCA when we started down the road several years ago, but at least it looks as though we are going to finally get a much needed Community Centre and Community Park! The picture here shows the plot of land that started all the discussions many years ago, and are still going on today!
Please look through the website to find out all about the Community Association, the plans for the Community Centre and also about Bracklesham itself (if you don’t already know more than the person who wrote this!).
News Updates:
With the Community Centre now well underway, the BBCA website editorial team decided to tie up with the two individuals who started the ball rolling - George Thomas & Michael Pettitt.
The combined efforts of George and Michael should be recognised, together with the fact that without either we would not have the centre in this format. Both are pleased with how this has developed and Michael when asked for his views on the progress of the Centre, stated he was delighted and penned the following ….
The Bracklesham bay Community Association was formed in 2003 with the sole purpose of providing a Community Centre for Bracklesham and surrounding areas.
George and I are delighted to see this dream rising to reality, creating an enormous asset to the area and a hub for the community. A very big vote of thanks must go to the BBCA Committee who put so much time, effort and commitment into this project, without which this would never have been achieved.
Original committee members who remained until 2008 when the Parish Council took charge are:-
George Thomas, Michael Pettitt, Richard Harris, John Tyreman, John Woodley, Louise Weaver, Ann Bromley, Joe and Ninette White.
With several other local residents joining after the first year: Diane Strange, Patrick Sanford, and later Lucie McDonald, Janice Ferguson, Adam Clapton and Gary Poundall.
“George Thomas and Michael Pettitt together viewing the new Community Centre of which they both played a significant part in its creation….”
